West Virginia Highways & Watersheds - Advancing Tree Canopy Restoration (2024)

This report shares results of a charette-style workshop held by the Warm Springs Watershed Association. The session engaged decision makers at WV Division of Highways and WV Department of Environmental Protection to discuss the 522 Bypass and its impact on the watershed.

Berkeley Springs Waterworks Source Water Protection Plan (2016)

WV law states that existing public water utilities that use surface water, or groundwater influenced by surface water, must complete or update a source water protection plan every three years. This plan from the Water Works for the Town of Bath describes how they will provide a long-term and abundant supply of safe water for residents of the Town and surrounding areas of Morgan County.

Comprehensive Watershed-Based Management Plan for Warm Springs Run (2012)

AUTHORS: Geo-Concepts Engineering and Warm Springs Watershed Association

The assessment details plans to reduce watershed contamination and erosion. It includes cost estimates for implementing these measures and identifies potential partnership opportunities. Warm Springs Run Watershed Assessment (2010)

Warm Springs Run Stream Corridor Assessment (2007)

AUTHOR/SPONSOR: Authored by Kiernan O’Malley. Morgan County Purple Loosestrife Task Force.

This document identifies 18 invasive species growing along the Warm Springs Run corridor, as well as in-stream debris, pipe outfalls, stream inputs, and local trash dumps. The report notes that despite these issues, the stream remains home to many wildlife species, such as the endangered wood turtle. It also provides details about buffer conditions and near-stream construction challenges, and notes the problem of the stream being “out of sight, out of mind.” The assessment concludes by emphasizing the opportunities to restore the watershed by building community awareness.

Warm Springs Run Flood Plain Management Study (1991)
